One Year Later

On December 20th, we will celebrate our first year of marriage!  It has been a wonderful year and we've had so much fun establishing a life and a home together.  Despite missing family, God has blessed us with each other.  Throughout this year we have been continually reminded of His care and provision in our lives.  By this update, we are trying to improve our communication with you, our friends and family. We want you to feel better connected with us and know more about what is going on with our lives and ministry here in Nicaragua.

Christmas Around The World

Our annual school Christmas Concert took a more international flavor this year with songs from Nicaragua, United States, Brazil, Israel, South Korea, Holland, Zimbabwe and Hawaii!  On a beautifully decorated stage, our elementary students and guest high school musicians performed a concert focused on the birth of Jesus Christ here on earth.  The audience closed by singing together, "Go Tell it on the Mountain," reminding all of us that Christmas is a time to share the Good News with others!  Ellen's class enjoyed dressing up as the angels.

Train Up a Child

This year NCA has 45 students in preschool!  Ellen truly enjoys teaching preschoolers.  Generally, our preschool students begin in Pre K I at the age of three and graduate from Kindergarten at the age of six.  In preschool, the students are learning letters, colors, numbers and shapes.  The preschool years are taught in English and Spanish, with a focus on English language learning so that the students are prepared for their move into elementary school, which is taught in English.

Nica Youth Group

Working together in youth ministry is something we are still enjoying.  We are known among the kids as Mr. and Mrs. Rose.  Running youth group does take a lot of time on top of our regular teaching schedules but it has been a blast!  We are especially thankful for our leadership team, made up of eight Seniors.

Our theme this year is "Hide or Seek?" and our key verse is Jeremiah 29:13. Youth Group has been growing in numbers and we pray in spiritual maturity.  We count it a privelege to be part of encouraging youth in worship, fellowship, service, and prayer.

Prayer and Praise

• Praise the Lord for His working in our lives and for His placement of us in Nicaragua.
• Pray for our youth to desire after God and the things of Him! 
• Pray that NCA will effectively raise up Christian leaders in this country faced with difficult economic and political circumstances.
• Praise that God has provided for us to visit Bolivia this Christmas, where Ellen grew up as an MK.
